The Rookery Café
on Streatham Common

Streatham has one of the most vibrant community spirits in all of London. Locals are rightly proud of where they live and the people who live there.

Streatham Common has a wonderful open vista looking West, with an amazing playground at the bottom, a majestic avenue of London Plane trees running its entire length, all the way to the top of the Common where you will find The Rookery Café beside the entrance to the Rookery Gardens and the children’s paddling pool which opens to the public each summer.

The Grade 2 listed Victorian gardens are a genuine hidden gem in London’s neighbourhoods. You can stroll, sit and relax in the orchard, wander around the formal ornamental gardens, explore the Victorian Cascade or sunbathe on the meadow. Tucked behind the gardens is the legendary Inkspot Brewery, run by Tom and Bradley who brew the finest craft beer and keep the good times rolling.

But it’s the community of Streatham which makes it what it is. The formal gardens are looked after by SCCOOP (a local co-operative), the most wonderful community garden you can imagine, and the Friends group which helps keep everything working and at its best.

The Rookery Café sits at the centre of it all, a century-old, forest green pavilion, that today is a meeting place for everyone.

We completely renovated the building in 2016 to make it a light and fit for purpose café for such a special spot. It’s somewhere to relax with family, friends or just to take a bit of time for yourself. It’s also a unique place for a celebration in the evening, where it can be yours to enjoy wonderful Roots & Berries food and drinks at your special event.

We can’t wait to welcome you.
